LCUP Holds First General Assembly, Reaffirms Commitment to Law and Ethics in Education

July 19, 2025

Malolos, Bulacan – July 18, 2025 La Consolacion University Philippines (LCUP) gathered all employees today for its first general assembly, marking a significant moment in institutional life as members of the LCUP community were formally introduced to one another across departments and offices.

The assembly featured a keynote lecture by Dean Atty. Ulpiano P. Sarmiento III, a seasoned education lawyer and respected academic, who delivered a timely and in-depth discussion on “Education and the Law.” His presentation focused on the constitutional, legal, and ethical responsibilities of academic personnel, emphasizing that schools and educators are not only expected to teach but also to safeguard student welfare and uphold quality education at all levels.

Atty. Ulan detailed the three constitutional objectives that define the role of educators in the Philippines: ensuring quality education, exercising special parental authority over students, and promoting ethical and moral development. He explained that these duties are grounded not just in policy but also in law, citing provisions from the 1987 Constitution, the Family Code, the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers, and key Supreme Court decisions.

As LCUP continues to grow as a learning community, the call remains clear: to uphold the law with fidelity, and to form minds, touch hearts, and lead lives guided by the Augustinian-Marian values.

In Deum!
